Innovative Therapies

If you struggle with chronic joint pain, muscle pain, inflammation, muscle strains or tears, ligament sprains or tears, cartilage damage cause by arthritis or trauma, then you may be a candidate for one of our innovative therapies.

These treatments are utilized to help the body own natural ability to heal and regenerate.  At reNu we utilize regenerative therapy to supplement the things that naturally occur in the body.

We perform an extensive consultation, comprehensive physical examination and x-rays to determine if an innovative and regenerative therapy approach is right for you.  This therapy approach may be combined with trigger point therapy (TPT), chiropractic care, cold laser therapy, nutritional supplementation and a tailored stretching and exercise plan of care to relieve pain and inflammation without the need for drugs or surgery.

PRP or platelet rich plasma has been used since around 1987 to promote healing in orthopedic, plastic surgery and dental procedures. In the past 5 years, PRP has been further recognized for its potential in treating both chronic and acute musculoskeletal injuries including joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscles. This procedure is also gaining attention for its use in treating professional athletes to return them to competition as quickly as possible.

PRP is derived from your own blood by taking a sample of venous blood, placing it in a special tube and spinning the blood in a centrifuge for approximately 10 minutes. This process separates whole blood into its components which include red blood cells, platelets and plasma which is the non-cellular fluid in blood. The middle layer is the PRP and contains highly concentrated platelets and these cells contain several specialized chemicals called growth factors. These include platelet derived growth factor, transforming growth factor beta and vascular endothelial growth factor. These factors interact with the local cells and send signals that initiate a variety of events such as cell division, migration and as such stimulate a healing response and reduce inflammation to the tissue. Also, since it is your own blood, it has no risk of immune or allergic reaction. This is injected in the identified area to trigger the healing cascade.

The main risks include local infection (<1% chance) and pain at the site of injection. The area will be treated with a topical anesthetic and if needed, a short acting local anesthetic can also be provided.

Please review the Pre and Post Instructions as well.

HCTP or human cellular tissue product is derived from Wharton’s jelly which is the umbilical cord tissue after a healthy cesarean birth the cells are washed, tested and frozen to use in injections that can help stimulate the healing process in joints, chronically inflamed muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, bone, nerves to stimulate the important mesenchymal cells, proteins, cytokines and growth factors and aid in the body’s natural ability to regenerative and repair.
